Enjoy an evening introduction to edible and medicinal herbs and wildflowers with naturalist/writer Laurie DiCesare. Class will include flower identification, resources (field guides and best local sites), cautions/preventives (stinging nettles/poison ivy), harvesting/preserving hints with recipes, samples and hand-outs.
We'll talk about some fascinating life cycles (Jack/Jill in the Pulpit) and Native American and Colonial uses of plants - sprinkled with stories and a dash of humor:)
Milton Tree Steward Laurie DiCesare has been studying herbology and teaching medicinal plants classes in Maine(Elderhostel) and Vermont for many years. During the past seven summers she has worked for the State of VT as Naturalist Interpreter/Recreation Director, mostly at Grand Isle State Park. She also teaches Mah Jongg classes from her home.
